SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (AP) — Federal authorities say they arrested nearly a dozen people who were involved in a cocaine and firearms trafficking ring in the Schenectady area.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Albany, the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives say the suspects were rounded up Thursday morning and arraigned before a federal magistrate.
Officials say the arrests are the result of a multi-agency investigation that included assistance from Schenectady police, the Albany County Sheriff’s Office and the New York National Guard Counter-Drug Task Force.
Nine of the suspects live in Schenectady, while one is from Albany and another is from Valley Stream on Long Island.
Officials say the suspects are being detained pending detention hearings that are scheduled for Monday and Tuesday.
