BALLSTON SPA, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Workers are now able to return to work after an overnight fire at Curtis Lumber.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene just after 3 a.m.
A security guard made his overnight rounds notices the smoke and discovered a building with multiple small fires inside.
Smoldering pallets and other small items at a place surrounded by wood, the flames could spread fast.
The fire was all under control by 4:30 but there was some damage to the roof of the building.
Senior Vice President John Hallgren is just thankful for the quick actions of the first responders.
“They’re doing their job. Many of them on stand-by. They have a forklift, getting some of the units out – here and there and they’re spraying water between the units. It’s our community at work, all the volunteers and we really appreciate what they’re doing for us.”
For now, the damage is still being assessed and they are still trying to determine what exactly caused those small fires.
