ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Fire crews and police responded to an early morning fire on Hunter Avenue in Albany on Tuesday.
The Albany County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center confirmed the structure fire at 84 Hunter Ave.
Albany Fire Department Deputy Chief Joseph Gregory says all of the building’s residents were able to make it out by the time fire crews arrived on scene.
The heaviest fire was concentrated on the second floor of the building, but firefighters were able to keep the fire from spreading to 82 Hunter Ave.
Officials say 12 people total, six from the first floor and six from the second floor, have been displaced by the fire. That number includes several children.
Investigators ruled the fire as accidental and was caused by unattended cooking.
The smoke detectors were working and were activated during the fire.
