Case of whooping cough found at Shaker HS

LATHAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Shaker High School sent a notice to parents warning them of a case of whooping cough at the school.

Whooping cough is very contagious and some complications can occur, especially in infants.

Symptoms are similar to the cold, but after about two weeks, the cough becomes more severe and is characterized by episodes of numerous rapid coughs followed by a crowing or high pitched whoop.

If your child has these symptoms, take them to the doctor immediately.
