State troopers investigating fatal pedestrian and vehicle incident

MALTA, N.Y. (NEWS10) — State troopers responded to a report of a pedestrian struck on State Route 9 in the Town of Malta around 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

Police have identified the victim as Terry Gannon, 49, of Gansevoort. He was found lying on the side of the roadway at the reported location. Despite lifesaving efforts by troopers and emergency personnel, Gannon was later pronounced deceased at Saratoga Hospital.

Police say the driver of the vehicle, James Peterman, 64, of Saratoga Springs, was uninjured in the incident.

An investigation has revealed that Gannon was resting on the shoulder of the roadway at the time he was struck. He was attempting to cross the road.

Police say State Police and members of the BCI and Collision Reconstruction Team are involved in the ongoing investigation.

No tickets or charges have been filed at this time.
