WILSON, N.Y. (AP) – Authorities say they’ve seized more than 100 snakes, birds and other animals from a western New York home where dozens of creatures were found dead.
Officials with the Niagara County SPCA say they obtained a warrant Tuesday after getting a tip that animals were living in deplorable conditions at a home in the town of Wilson, on Lake Ontario 30 miles north of Buffalo.
SPCA investigators say about 100 snakes, a few dozen birds, a large number of rats and two miniature pigs were found inside the home, plus 15 cats kept in enclosure in the back. The snakes were kept in small boxes.
Officials say dozens of other snakes and birds had died inside the home.
The homeowners, who face animal cruelty charges, have been charged with three counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
