Landlord sentenced for stealing from stroke victim

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The landlord who admitted to draining the bank account of a stroke victim has been sentenced.

Edward Thomas, 55, was sentenced to two to six years in Albany County Court and was also ordered to pay the victim more than $31,000.

Prosecutors say back in May, Thomas stole checks from the tenant, and forged the victim’s signature emptying the victim’s bank account over the course of several months. He pleaded guilty to grand larceny and forgery, both felonies.
