Price Chopper may be bought out by Albertsons grocery store chain

(NEWS10) – Capital Region based Price Chopper may be bought out by the giant Albertsons grocery store chain.

According to Reuters news service, Albertsons, based in Idaho, is in advance talks to buy Price Chopper from the Schenectady-based Golub family for nearly one billion dollars.

The Golub’s have owned Price Chopper and now, Market 32, for more than 80 years.

Price Chopper Spokeswoman Mona Golub said “it’s a rumor and we don’t comment on rumors.”
