Man arrested with stolen handgun following Elk Street shooting

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A 17-year-old Albany man has been arrested in connection with Tuesday’s shooting on Elk Street.

Zhaquan Allah was identified as a suspect and taken into custody. He currently only faces charges for possession of a weapon, possession of stolen property and resisting arrest.

He was found to be in possession of a loaded handgun that was reported stolen to the Dunwoody, Georgia Police Department in Nov. 2012.

Allah’s direct involvement in this shooting still under investigation.

The shooting happened on the 300 block of Elk Street just after 8 p.m. Tuesday night. An 18-year-old victim, who was taken to Albany Medical Center, had been shot in the torso and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
