ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The Dunkin’ Donuts Joy in Childhood Foundation celebrated the season of giving at Albany Medical Center on Wednesday.
The organization donated $20,000 to the Bernard and Millie Duker Children’s Hospital. The donation will support the pediatric child life program and be used to purchase equipment including toys, which may not seem like they are necessities, but they help staff give sick children a more positive experience during their stay.
“Things like wagons and iPads and really things to bring a little joy back to the child that might be here at a time when it is not really a pleasant experience for them,” said Dunkin’ Donuts Brand Field Marketing Manager Eric Stensland.
One of the goals of the pediatric child life program is to help sick youths cope with their illnesses and maintain a sense of normalcy while being treated.
