RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – What started as a road rage incident at the East Second Street Walmart in Reno Thanksgiving evening turned into a fatality, Reno Police Department, Lt. Scott Shaw said.
Police are asking for the public’s help in finding a dark-colored Toyota Camry or Corolla, Shaw said. There should be damage to one of the side windows as well as possible damage to the brake lights or taillights.
The driver was described as a light-skinned black male. The car was last seen going west on East Second Street from the Walmart.
The incident started about 6:05 p.m. at the Walmart at 2425 E 2nd St., Shaw said. There was apparently a dispute over a parking spot. The homicide happened in the driveway leaving the Walmart going to East Second Street. Several agencies responded and the westbound lane East Second Street will remain closed until late Thanksgiving night for the investigation.
One person died, Shaw said.
There happened to be an officer in the area who heard shots fired, but it was not an officer-involved shooting, Shaw said.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation is also conducting an investigation and jurisdiction will be determined later, Shaw said.
