COLONIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) – The doors inside Toys “R” Us opened at 5 p.m. Thursday.
As the doors opened, the line of people that waited for hours outside quickly came rushing in and quickly filled their carts with anything they could find.
“I just like the rush of it,” Emily Murray said. “A lot of people think it’s really crazy, but I just think that it’s really exciting.”
For people like Murray, it’s an experience she can officially check off her bucket list.
“No, it’s my first time doing it!” she said.
Every corner of the store was filled with shoppers pushing their carts and squeezing through tight spaces.
“I was around the corner; it was crazy,” Murray said. “I couldn’t believe it.”
And parents knew exactly what the hot new toys are this year.
“Drone! Maybe the hover board,” shopper Matthew Holmes said.
“They’re these little characters you can collect,” shopper Alicia Gearwar said. “They’re everything you can shop for.”
Shoppers said Black Friday shopping isn’t always about snatching the best deals. They said it’s the adrenaline rush they get or the opportunity to spend time with their loved ones during the holidays.
“Well, actually, this is the first time we’ve come on the Thursday – Thanksgiving Day,” shopper Karen Olson said. “We’ve usually gone on Friday morning, so we thought maybe it’ll be a little less traffic, but I don’t think so.”
Toys “R” Us will close at midnight and then reopen for different Black Friday deals in the early morning.
