COLONIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) – If you spent Thanksgiving morning at the airport you’re bound to see a lot of hugs.
If you were there, you might have seen Deb Hall anxiously waiting for her daughter.
“We’re going to surprise everybody. Her three siblings have no clue she’s going to be home. So it’s exciting,” Deb said.
Kristcha Deguerre lives in Belize and hasn’t seen her family in months.
“Last time I was home it was only two days last March so it was a really quick trip.”
When she found out she’d make it home for Thanksgiving, they decided to make it a surprise.
“About a month and a half ago she said she was coming home for Thanksgiving and I said let’s not tell anybody,” Deb said.
“I’m so excited because my mom is usually really bad at keeping secrets. So I’m so excited it worked out and I can’t wait to give them a big hug.”
Deguerre has been traveling since 11 a.m. on Wednesday to get home on time and she already knows what she’ll eat first.
“Pumpkin pie! I’m going for dessert right away.”
But most of all she’s happy to be home.
“I’m just happy I get to spend Thanksgiving around my family and around people that I love and who love me.”
Whether you’re welcoming family for the holiday or saying goodbye for a bigger cause, everyone at NEWS10 ABC wishes you all a very Happy Thanksgiving.
