MADISON, Wisc. (NEWS10) – Green Party Presidential Nominee Jill Stein says she raised more than $3 million for recounts in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Michigan.
On Wednesday, the Stein/Baraka Green Party Campaign launched an effort to raise money to force recounts in the above states.
Stein says they want a recount because “data suggests a significant need to verify machine-countered vote totals.”
The filing deadline for a recount in Wisconsin is Friday, November 25; Pennsylvania on November 28; and Michigan on November 30.
Donald Trump won Wisconsin 47.9 percent to 46.9 percent and Pennsylvania 48.8 percent to 47.6 percent. Michigan is still too close to call, but Trump is leading 47.6 to 47.3 percent.
The total cost for the recounts, with lawyer and filing fees, is estimated to be around $6-7 million.
Stein says if more money is raised than needed, the money will be used for election integrity efforts.
