TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – One of the three men charged in the deaths of two cousins in the Capital Region is back in a New York jail.
Magdaleno Calixto was charged with Second Degree Murder in the death of Javier Gomez, of Troy. Calixto is accused of striking Gomez in the head with a hammer and stabbing him with a knife in the torso.
Calixto is one of three who went to Virginia after the murders.
He was only arraigned in the death of Gomez, who was found stabbed and beaten inside his apartment. He has also been charged in the death of Gomez’s cousin whose body was found in a creek.
Calixto is due back in court on Monday.
Troy police said the other two men, Luis Monge Guevara and Salomon Najera-Hernandez, are still in police custody in Virginia.
