Former Troy mayoral candidate convicted of falsifying documents

TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – A man who ran for mayor in Troy was convicted of falsifying documents to get on the ballot.

The Rensselaer County District Attorney’s Office said Ernest Everett signed statements saying he witnessed signatures on petitions when he wasn’t present.

The petitions were part of the democratic nomination process handed in to the Rensselaer County Board of Elections in July 2015.

Everett faces up to one year in county jail when he’s sentenced in January.
