ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — The Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York launched its 32nd annual holiday hunger appeal on Wednesday.
Shoppers can donate to the Regional Food Bank as they pass by the booth located on the lower level of Crossgates Mall, outside Lord and Taylor and the Apple store.
The event is being held through Dec. 24 and will run daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Last year’s holiday hunger appeal raised over $500,000 for the Regional Food Bank.
“During the holidays, people are more generous, in addition to buying gifts, they’re thinking about other people who are need in their community and want to help, so it’s a perfect time of the year for us to do the appeal,” said Mark Quandt from the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York.
Each dollar donated goes a long way toward feeding the hungry, as the food bank provides $10 worth of food for every dollar it spends.
From now until Dec. 24, Christmas Eve, you can drop off donations at the food bank’s booth in Crossgates Mall.
