COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KXRM) — The Carmel, CO Middle School student who was bullied and stabbed at school is doing great things to make sure other kids aren’t getting bullied.

“I was getting bullied in school because I didn’t have really good shoes,” said Kyler Davila.

It happened all over something he couldn’t control.

“I used to have casts on my legs, because I used to walk on my tippy toes. Now I have to wear AFO’s, which makes my feet really big,” said Kyler.

His mom said he would come home from school crying.

“They were calling me all kinds of bad names at school and saying my family must live in a dumpster because we can’t afford shoes. Kyler could very well have responded with anger and he could have fought back and he could of done all those things, but he didn’t. Instead he responded with love,” said Kyler’s mom Sherise Nipper.

He started collecting donated shoes and giving them away to kids just like him.

It truly is amazing the power of a new pair of shoes and what that can do for a kid who is being bullied.

“We’ve had kids that have gotten shoes from Kyler already that have sent us messages back saying, ‘I can go to school the next day and be proud,’” said Nipper.

Even random people are giving love to Kyler for what he’s doing.

His good work isn’t even close to done yet.

“I’m going to start doing this every once or two weeks and we’re going to make a shoe company and every single pair of shoes that’s bought there’s going to be one donated,” said Kyler.

In October, Kyler got a surprise visit from his favorite rapper Lil Flip, who will be helping him start that shoe company.
