“A Night for Niko” fundraiser held Saturday, supporters walk 8,888 laps at Colonie High School Track

COLONIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) – On Saturday, a community will come together again to support a teen who was the passenger in the car that crashed into Blessings Tavern in Colonie last month. Niko DiNovo, 16, suffered burns to 95 percent of his body.

From 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday afternoon, people will be walking a combined 8,888 laps in his honor at the Colonie Central High School.

That number is a significant one for Niko, as 88 is the number of his favorite football player Dez Bryant, who gave Niko a shout-out on social media.

There will be a one-time admission fee of $20.

All proceeds will go directly to Niko and the DiNovo family.
