COLONIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A historical landmark property is now officially owned by the Town of Colonie.
In a ceremony Thursday afternoon, members of the Open Space Institute donated the 23-acre Schuyler Flatts Cultural Park to the town.
The institute purchases and preserves land throughout New York. They have owned the Schuyler Flatts property for nearly two decades.
Thursday’s gift is part of an OSI effort to donate a series of celebrated properties across the state.
“It’s been great to be able to enable these communities to really take active ownership and management of these properties,” said Dawn Haight, Director of Stewardship at Open Space Institute.
Schuyler Flatts will remain a recreational park for the community and the site of historical events throughout the year.
