STILLWATER, N.Y. (NEWS10) -– Stillwater police say the lockdown on all schools in the Stillwater Central School District have been lifted.
The schools were placed on lockdown Wednesday after there was an unconfirmed report of a person with a gun in the vicinity of the Stillwater High School.
Saratoga County Sheriff Zurlo told News10 ABC they have an individual in custody but the report of a weapon is unfounded.
Sheriff Zurlo could not confirm the actual presence of a person with a gun. Police are on scene investigating.
In a statement, the Stillwater Central School district said all Stillwater schools were placed in lock down after the police informed the district “of a situation in the surrounding community.”
The statement goes on to say police have advised the district there is currently no direct threat on the Stillwater campus, however the lock down was ordered out of an abundance of caution.
