GREENPORT, N.Y. (NEWS10) — On Wednesday, the Columbia County Sheriff’s Department arrested three men in connection with a home invasion that occurred Monday evening in the Town of Greenport.

Deputies say the two residents had been sleeping when three men entered the residence, shut off the power, and assaulted the home owners. The suspects fled the scene after the assault.

After searching the area, deputies and state troopers located the three subjects hiding nearby.

Derek Peeters, 23, of Philmont, John Day, 21, of Greenport, and an 18-year-old male from Chatham were arrested Wednesday morning and charged with one count of burglary, and two counts of assault.

A male victim was transported to Columbia Memorial Hospital and treated for a laceration to the arm. He was later released. The second female victim was also injured and was treated by medical personnel on the scene.

All three were arraigned and remanded to Columbia County Jail without bail.
