ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Not raking leaves can actually be better for wildlife and could save you some time.
According to David Mizejewski, a Naturalist at the National Wildlife Federation says that dead leaves may be great for creatures.
Every year, the Federation reminds people that there are benefits to letting leaves decompose naturally.
Leaves could save you money as they are natural mulch and fertilizer and when you rake them away, you are removing the natural benefit to your garden and lawns.
Food scraps and yard waste make up 20 to 30 percent of what we throw away according to the EPA.
Letting your leaves decompose isn’t just a time-saver for you, but it’s also environmentally friendly.
