ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – The man who was arrested and sentenced to nine years in prison has been released after serving nearly three years.
Last week, the appellate court ruled that the sentence for Marquis Dixon would be reduced after charging him as a youthful offender.
Dixon’s appeal lawyers said he should have been tried as a youthful offender from the beginning and now, his record will reflect that.
His sentence was reduced to one to three years. He’s already served two years and seven months.
His family says they’re happy he can now start his life with a clean slate.
