SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – The youngest and oldest classical music fans descended upon Proctors on Tuesday for a concert of the ages.
The Empire State Youth Orchestra shares the joys of classical music each year with audiences ranging from elementary school age to senior citizens.
For the young ones, the orchestra hopes to perhaps inspire future musicians and fans and for the older audiences, provide a nostalgic or pleasing recreational experience.
No matter what they age, it’s all about seeing it live.
“I think being together as a community is a really important aspect of listening to music,” Empire State Youth Orchestra Music Director Helen Cha-Pyo said. “Also seeing live bodies, 105 musicians up there just making a massive sound, you feel it.”
The orchestra will be playing at the Troy Savings Bank’s music hall this weekend. Tickets are available at esyo.org.
