Troy police arrest man for attempted burglary

TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Troy police arrested a man for attempted burglary at Hill’s Stationary store Saturday night.

Police responded to a burglar alarm and found a glass window in the entry door and the lock to be heavily damaged.

Officers were able to find a suspect after viewing video from the area.

An alert was then sent out to all of the patrols with a description of the suspect. After searching the area, police say they located the suspect, Andrew Smith, in an alley near Congress Street and Church Street.

Smith was arrested and charged with attempted burglary and criminal mischief.

He was arraigned Sunday morning and remanded to the Rensselaer County Jail.
