MOREAU, N.Y. (NEWS10) — State police in Wilton are investigating a fatal accident after they say a driver fell asleep at the wheel.
Police say a Toyota Highlander was traveling northbound on I-87 around 9 a.m. when the driver fell asleep at the wheel.
The vehicle went off the road then came back on, and overturned several times. Police say one person was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.
Four people were transported to Saratoga Hospital with minor injuries. One was airlifted to Albany Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
Police are still investigating the incident and say no charges have been filed at this time. They have not identified those involved.
The roads at Exit 16 have since reopened.
