QUEENSBURY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – A sergeant with the New York State Department of Corrections was arrested for an alleged domestic dispute.
Members of the Warren County Sheriff’s Office were called to a Queensbury home around 8:40 p.m. Sunday for a reported disturbance. Police said a patrol officer saw 60-year-old Chris Hansen standing over a woman with his hands on her throat and pinning her against the couch.
Police said Hansen continued choking the woman despite the officer’s commands to let her go.
Hansen was placed in custody after a brief struggle. He was charged with Criminal Obstruction of Breathing, Unlawful Imprisonment, Resisting Arrest and Harassment.
Hansen is employed by the NYS Department of Corrections and Community Supervision as a sergeant at the Washington Correctional Facility.
He was arraigned in Queensbury Town Court and released to reappear at a later date. A no contact order of protection was issued for the victim.
