WASHINGTON D.C. (KRON) — A parent is outraged after her child was physically assaulted inside of a school by an adult in Washington D.C. Wednesday morning.
Surveillance video acquired by John Mclean’s mother, Lena, shows her 7-year-old son standing in the hallway while an adult comes up and punches John in the stomach.
Mclean is student at Kipp D.C. Spring Academy and the assault happened at 8:30 a.m. The punch made Mclean slouch over, grabbing his stomach.
“You don’t bully a child, you don’t torment a child,” Lena Mclean said. “I wouldn’t do that to you. I wouldn’t do that to none of your kids. I’ll feel much better when he is locked up.”
Mclean said she has had positive interactions with the parent who assaulted her son.
School officials addressed the assault in a letter that was sent out.
“The health and safety of our students, teachers, and our staff, remains our number one priority and we will continue to work closely with the police to ensure that students and staff are safe at school.”
Mclean is upset with school officials and claimed that they did not do enough to address the situation and that there is always more they can do.
The cause of the assault is unknown.
