TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Police are still investigating the two homicides in Rensselaer County Friday.
Police discovered the body of the 23-year-old Javier Gomez inside his Troy apartment Monday night.
The cause of death for Christian Gonzalez Hernandez is still not known.
His body was found dumped near a creek in Brunswick. Police say his murder is related to the death of Javier Gomez.
Troy City court papers give details of his gruesome murder.
Three men, Luis Monge Guevara, 20, of Clifton Park, Magdaleno Perez-Calixto, 28, of Latham, and Salomon Najera-Hernandez, 21, of Mexico, are accused of striking Gomez in the head multiple times using a hammer and stabbing him in the torso.
The suspects were caught hundreds of miles away in Wrythe County, Virgina.
“They have an extradition proceeding that’s currently scheduled for November 17th,” Rensselaer County DA Joel Abelove said.
Forensic units searched the Quality Inn in Colonie where law enforcement sources say at least one of the suspects had been staying.
Down the road, police also searched an apartment at Rosewood Gardens.
“We’re interviewing people, we’re looking at the evidence. it appears that we have some undocumented individuals,” Sheriff Patrick Russo said.
An employee at Chili’s in Clifton Park says she worked there with both Javier, and Guevara. She describes them as close friends.
“They hung out a lot outside of work,” Mynisha Dennis said.
She’s horrified to imagine what they were involved with outside of work.
“Not only to hear that one of my friends was murdered but to learn that it was somebody that I knew who may have played a role in it, it’s absolutely devastating,” Dennis said.
NEWS10 ABC’S Rachel Yonkunas for records in another court about these homicide investigations. Those documents have not been released.
