ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – Senator Charles Schumer is making a case for a $33 million federal grant to install lifesaving PTC technology on tracks from Poughkeepsie to Schenectady.

Schumer brought Federal Railroad Administrator Sarah E. Feinberg to the city of Schenectady to survey the train tracks in the case for track improvements.

The PTC technology is a communications and signaling system that can be used on railroads to prevent accidents caused by excessive speed and human error.

Schumer and Feinberg discussed the importance of quickly installing life-saving PTC technology as the Senator says it could save lives and prevent dangerous accidents.
