ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced the number of online voter registration applications received from October 1 to October 14 shattered September’s one month record.
The governor’s office says the Department of Motor Vehicle processed 214,356 online voter registration applications, including 122,147 from first-time voters. That shattered the number of applications received during the month of September.
“Our online voter registration system has broken down barriers and enabled hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers to participate in the electoral process,” Governor Cuomo said. “These new records demonstrate the ease and success of this system and I am proud these New Yorkers are ensuring their voices are heard.”
The upcoming presidential election is on Tuesday, November 8.
