GHENT, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A Hudson man was arrested Friday on assault and weapons charges after an investigation into a woman admitted to a local hospital with a gunshot wound.
State police say 26-year-old Jermaine Jones was arrested and charged with 1st Degree Assault, 1st Degree Criminal Use of a Firearm, and 2nd Degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon, after a joint investigation by the New York State Police, the Hudson Police Department, and the Columbia County District Attorney’s Office.
State police say officials were notified around 10:00 p.m. Thursday that a Ghent woman was being treated at Columbia Memorial Hospital for a reported gunshot wound.
Police say an investigation revealed that Jones had shot the woman at a home in Ghent earlier Thursday evening.
The woman’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening at this time.
Jones was arraigned in the Town of Claverack Court and remanded to the Columbia County Jail without bail.
