BALLSTON SPA, NY (NEWS10) – “It’s great; it’s perfect for the kids. The kids are having a ball,” said Jennifer Hickok.
“We are more involved with our actual city where we live instead of having to drive down to Albany to do stuff, so it’s nice to do it here. They love it, they love to do stuff like this, it’s nice to get the kids outside and involved,” said Danielle Pingelski.
The 3rd annual Curtis Lumber Community Fun Day had something to entertain everyone in the family. The line at the bounce house was full all day long.
The petting zoo may have been some kid’s first ever encounter with some pretty friendly farm animals. There was food, music, and even face painting.
“It’s wonderful; it just goes to show the kind of community that Ballston Spa has. All of the different organizations, everyone getting out together; fun family, food, scouting, it’s great,” said Buddha Hurtt, Cub Master of the Ballston Spa Cub Scout Pack 2.
The term pet friendly directly applies, lots of K-9 taking in the sights along with the rest of the family, especially when the demo by 8 Star Martial Arts kicked off.
“This is the progression; nobody starts at black belt you work up to. Since we stated the demonstrations this summer we don’t have any more white belts, they have all been promoted to yellow, and yellow has been promoted to orange; so this is a big growing experience for the kids too,” said Roland Lavigne of 8 Star Martial Arts and Red Dragon Karate School.
While some played cornhole, others chose to just sit back for the ride. Curtis Lumber is celebrating 126 years of successful business and on this beautiful Saturday afternoon, they wanted to share their excitement with the people they do business with the most, right here in Ballston Spa.
“I’ve grown up in Ballston Spa and Curtis Lumber has been a part of the community since I can remember it’s just what they do and I wouldn’t expect anything less; and I like to see that this is growing every year.”
