$132K announced to support ‘Youth Police Initiative’ in the Capital Region


WASHINGTON (NEWS10) – Three Capital Region police departments are getting grant money to help them build relationships with at-risk youth.

Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand announced that the Albany Police Department is getting $132,000 to support its “youth police initiative”.

The funding will also expand the initiative to two other police departments including in Schenectady and Troy.

The initiative creates classes and forums to help build relations between police and the young people that they serve to help reduce crime.
