Ceremony held for new Damien Center, supports homeless individuals living with HIV/AIDS

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — On Thursday, Governor Cuomo announced the start of construction on a $5 million supportive housing development.

The new Albany Damien Center will be specifically for chronically homeless individuals living with HIV and AIDS in Albany, and will have 20 permanent supportive housing apartments in addition to serving as a home for the agency’s programs.

It will be located at 728 Madison Ave.

The center has been at a temporary location at the First Lutheran Church on State St. since a fire destroyed the center’s original location in 2013.
