ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Women in the Capital Region, who support Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, held a luncheon rally on Wednesday.
Lara Trump, wife of Eric Trump, brought the candidate’s message of “Make America Great Again,” to the Desmond Hotel in Albany. She was joined by Wendy Long, the Republican candidate who’s challenging sitting Democratic Senator Chuck Schumer, along with other Trump supporters.
To the crowd of almost 100 women and a few men, they talked about the importance of Donald’s Trump message and bashed Hillary Clinton. Lara Trump spoke about what she thought of the recent tape that surfaced where her father-in-law trash talks about women.
“I just thought it was just a distraction from the real problems we have in this country,” she said. “We have almost 100 million Americans out of the work force, when we have ISIS every day trying to plot ways to kill people in our country, and $20 trillion worth of debt. These are major problems as a country that we have, and it’s unfortunate these kinds of things have to come into play in elections. But I think it speaks to the fact that the other side knows we’re winning.”
Yate County Republican Chair Sandra King told the crowd if women are so offended by things Donald Trump said, then why were so many copies of “50 Shades of Grey” sold in the U.S. The book sold more than 100 million world wide, and almost 50 million were sold in America.
