MILTON, N.Y. (NEWS10) – The woman whom police say lied about being abducted by a bearded man this past summer is facing new accusations involving a car crash and prescription drugs Tuesday night.
Rachael Mattice is facing charges over an October 5th crash that State Police in Saratoga County say she caused when she allegedly crossed the center line, sending a vehicle rolling over into a ditch.
Emily Burke said she was on her way home from work along Middle Grove Road when the crash happened right in front of her. She says it took a while for people on scene to realize the driver was the same Rachael Mattice who claimed to have been kidnapped.
Burke snapped pictures of the crash:
“It was almost impossible to get them out. I can’t believe they are still alive and walked away fine.”
Emily says the driver of the Jeep was not injured but acted strangely.
“Watched her take stuff out of her purse and act extremely squirrely,” Burke said. “Something was definitely wrong with her.”
Burke says she couldn’t believe the driver whom police say caused the accident is Rachael Mattice.
“This is just another example of someone who got away with something the first time. Karma is coming for you.”
Mattice faces two traffic violations as well as a misdemeanor charge for allegedly having drugs on her that police say were not prescribed to her.
She has already been charged with falsely reporting an incident and unrelated charges over an alleged prescription drug theft.
NEWS10 ABC’s Anya Tucker reached out to Mattice’s attorney and didn’t hear back by the time of this report.
