ALBANY, NY (NEWS10) – As of 3:00pm on Monday, October 10, a total of 26 Red Cross volunteers from the Eastern New York Region have been deployed to support the ongoing response to Hurricane Matthew.
All four emergency response vehicles from our region have also been mobilized, and are headed south from Albany, Glens Falls, Utica, and Poughkeepsie.
Volunteers will be helping with sheltering and feeding in Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas.
More volunteers will be trained and prepared to deploy at a one-day training workshop Tuesday in Albany from 8:30am to 5:00pm.
There is another scheduled training specifically for volunteers interested in conducting damage assessment in disaster affected areas, which will be held on Thursday, October 13 in Utica.
