Hundreds of students come out to clean local neighborhood

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Hundreds of UAlbany students came together early Sunday to help clean up off-campus.

Dozens of campus organizations gather at Ridgefield Park for the annual Pine Hills cleanup to collect trash and litter in the area.

Students were designated specific blocks in public spaces to pick up debris left behind.

“They understand and value the role that they have in the community, and we really work hard to coordinate with them to make sure they have somewhere they can go to participate in their community and in the area,” said Dan Healy, Coordinator of the Pine Hills Cleanup Association.

Organizers say it’s important for students at UAlbany to show they care about the community they live in.
