What it’s like to fly into Hurricane Matthew

MIAMI (NEWS10) – Pilots from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)’s Hurricane Hunters captured video of them flying right into Hurricane Matthew.

The video captures the very turbulent flight and a first hand-look at the flight through eyewall and into the eye of the storm.

According to NOAA, scientists fly into the storms and drop instruments to collect storm characteristics and other information about the storm. This gives forecasters a real-time look into the storm and helps with hurricane tracking.
