Police: Pharmacist accused of taking drugs for herself, charged with identity theft

CORINTH, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Police say they arrested a pharmacist accused of falsely completing a prescription in the name of a customer and assuming the identity of the customer in order to administer hydrocodone-acetaminophen to herself.

Mary Murphy, 48, of Ballston Spa, N.Y., allegedly falsely completed a prescription on Aug. 18 while employed at Rite Aid Pharmacy, from a licensed physician in the name of a Rite Aid customer, and then falsified the business records to cover up the incident.

Murphy was charged with forgery, identity theft, and falsifying business record. She was arraigned and released to Pre-Trial Services.

Murphy is scheduled to answer the respective charges in the Corinth Village Court at a later date.

Police are still investigating the incident.
