Hurricane Matthew affecting flights along the East Coast

ALBANY, NY (NEWS10) – Of course any travel plans to the Bahamas or even Florida and much of the Southeast coast is going to be pretty tough if not impossible Thursday.

Looking at the big board here, we are all good. All flights are on time and there are no cancellations as of right now.

But that is not the case for the rest of the East Coast. Nearly 1,600 flights have been cancelled Thursday through Friday so far, mostly at Miami and Nassau.

Significant travel hubs like Ft. Lauderdale, West Palm Beach and Orlando will also likely halt operations for hours during the storm.

To help with the turmoil, several U.S. airlines have waived flight flees. American, Delta, United and JetBlue added certain U.S. destinations to their change-fee waivers.

That will help passengers re-navigate their trips without extra charges and more waivers are likely to come as the storm gets closer.

Now again flights clear here for now but if you have plans to travel or already bought tickets definitely check your information before heading to the airport.
