ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A challenge flag was thrown on Wednesday in a major announcement over the legalization of fantasy sports gambling.
Members of a reform group spoke on Wednesday about the effects of gambling and to challenge the legislation that was recently passed.
The state’s constitution prohibits gambling, except those forms such as horse races, charitable contests, a limited number of commercial casinos and state lottery.
One member who spoke says fantasy football gambling is an addiction and wants to change lives.
“Our mission is to improve the lives of Americans and free us of the dishonesty, exploitation, addiction and lower standard of living that commercial gambling spreads in this country,” said Les Bernal, National Director of Stop Predatory Gambling.
New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman is already on record declaring that daily fantasy sports gambling violates the constitution.
