One hospitalized, 25 rooms evacuated after fire at Cocca’s Travelodge Inn in Latham

LATHAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) — At least 25 occupied rooms were evacuated due to a structure fire at the Cocca’s Travelodge Inn & Suites on Loudon Road in Latham Saturday night.

The Colonie Police Department received a report of a structure fire at the motel just after 10:30 Saturday night. Police and fire units responded to the scene to find the building fully involved.

Officials say emergency personnel were aided by hotel guests in evacuating the remaining 25 occupied rooms.

Officials say Colonie EMS transported a 29-year-old woman to Albany Medical Center with burns and smoke inhalation. Her condition is unknown at this time.

The Latham Fire Department led the operation at the scene, and was aided by more than 12 other volunteer fire departments from Colonie, North Bethlehem and Saratoga County.

The American Red Cross is assisting with the relocation of the Travelodge guests.

The ramp from the Traffic circle to Loudon Road North was closed for several hours but has since been reopened.

The fire remains under investigation.
