LAKE GEORGE, N.Y. (NEWS10) – The Warren County Sheriff’s Office arrested two people on welfare fraud charges.
Police say Rhonda Rae Graham-Ramsey, 55, of Glens Falls, and Kevin Paul Ramsey, 52, of Saratoga Springs, were charged with multiple felonies after an investigation into a welfare fraud report from the Warren County Department of Social Services (DSS) Fraud Unit.
Graham-Ramsey is accused of failing to falsely report her total household income to employees of DSS and on three occasions filed recertification applications to continue to receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits that contained false information.
She was charged with 3rd degree welfare fraud, 3rd degree grand larceny, and three counts of offering a false instrument for filing.
Ramsey is accused of providing false information to DSS employees when he was asked to verify information provided by Graham-Ramsey related to their total household income. He was charged with 3rd degree welfare fraud and 3rd degree grand larceny.
Police say DSS recently received information that Graham-Ramsey was receiving Veterans Administration (VA) benefits from a previous spouse under a different name since 2012. She is accused of failing to report when applying and recertifying for SNAP benefits.
According to police, Ramsey and Graham-Ramsey received $14,050 in SNAP benefits that they were not entitled to. Both previously resided together while receiving benefits.
Both were arraigned in Queensbury Town Court and released on their own recognizance.
