HALFMOON, N.Y. (NEWS10) – The case against a man dressed as a clown outside a Halfmoon apartment complex is now closed.
The clown was spotted at the Sitterly Manor Complex. The man in the costume is named Justin, and he lives at the complex.
He said he bought the costume before the clown scare started in the Capital Region. When the photo circulated on social media was taken, he said it was after he came home with the new costume and the children in the area wanted to see him put it on for laughs.
“Yes, they’re spooky and scary, but that’s what clowns have always been,” he said. “But there really is no reason to be afraid of a clown on Halloween. It’s just what it is.”
Since the costume has stirred up so much controversy, Justin said he’ll return the costume to the store and pick out a different one.
