ROTTERDAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) – New York Transportation Department officials are advising motorists that a section of I-890 will close early Thursday morning to accommodate an oversized shipment by General Electric.
The highway will be closed in the eastbound direction from Exit 3 to Exit 4B. Officials say during the closure, a detour will be in place at Exit 3 to the 890 frontage road. Motorists can re-enter the highway at the new on-ramp at Exit 4.

Motorists will be detoured to Washington Avenue (at Schenectady County Community College) and then to State Street (Route 5) over the Western Gateway Bridge, continuing on Mohawk Avenue (Route 5) through Scotia to I-890 in Glenville.
The roadway will be closed from midnight to 3:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 29.
Motorists should expect delays during the closure.
