SIDNEY, N.Y. (NEWS10) – A man accused of shooting and killing a cow is facing animal cruelty charges.
Police say Nevin Cutting, 22, of Sidney, killed a cow last week that belonged to a farm on Pine Hill State Road for an unknown reason. Cutting did not own the cow or have permission to shoot it.
After killing the cow, Cutting is accused of dragging the carcass to nearby state land where he left it on the ground. The cow was valued at about $2,000.
Cuting was charged with aggravated cruelty to animals, 2nd degree criminal mischief, and illegally discharging a firearm.
He was arraigned and remanded to the Delaware County Jail in lieu of $1,500 cash bail or $3,000 property bond.
Additional charges are pending from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
