WASHINGTON (NEWS10) – After General Electric employees learned they would be losing their jobs and state leaders say they’re ready to help them get back on their feet.

Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand announced on Tuesday that the Department of Labor will help those workers access trade adjustment assistance benefits. That will help support the last 15 employees who are losing their jobs.

Those employees were initially told those benefits would be denied to them, even though they were approved for workers who lost their jobs at earlier stages of the plant’s closure.
